Future Enhancements for SMARTT.
Smartt is constantly being enhanced and improved, as our ever-growing band of users identify and request new features that can save them time and effort in their day to day administration of their meals service.
Users on our standard v4 product will automatically benefit from the introduction of many of these features as they are implemented, although where any such new features may have an impact on existing use of the software, the new feature will be parameterized so that by default it is disabled until positively selected by the system administrator. In such cases, users are notified of the availability of the new feature(s) with a note of how to enable them when required.
After a year of so of intensive work on version 4 with the recent introduction of the mapping and web-server modules, Smartt is already so versatile and feature-rich that it is hard to see where we can make many more improvements, but we do have an exciting, major new enhancement planned.
1) PDA Connectivity
For some years we have been carefully researching and monitoring the availability,
functionality and cost / benefits available by use of PDA ( Personal
Digital Assistant ) devices, also commonly
known as “handheld computers”.
Until recently, we felt that the substantial costs of introducing this technology could not be justified in the arena of a Community Meals Service. However the falling price of PDA hardware and the recent discovery of a simple and robust way of integrating the technology into our Smartt v4 software, together with a number of meals service clients who are so keen to pursue this technology that they are volunteering to beta-test it with us prior to a full release, has led us to believe that the time is now right to go ahead, and this will effectively enable the complete replacement of paper-based delivery roundsheets and substantial amounts of clerical keyboard time with our Smartt Mobile PDA-based solution.
